I was using a 3/8 oz 4/0 or 5/0 hook. It depends on where your fishing, down here, the tide flow is very strong, so smaller jigheads are a waste of time, the salmon seem to be feeding on the bottom at the minute, (where we've been fishing at any rate), so you need to be down there. You may even pick up a bonus flattie, 'cos we picked up a nice blue spot last time. They like to mooch around under the salmon to pick up any scraps that drop through..
