New to the Forum

Post by spikey » Fri Apr 14, 2017 8:58 pm

Hello all
My name is Spike, and I've just joined the forum, hoping to make some new friends, and swap ideas and good fishing spots.
I've just bought myself a boat, a ( 4.55 mtre Quintrex Escape) and my son and I just got our licence about two weeks ago. Due to work commitments, I still haven't had time to put it in the water, but luckily I have a few days off this week , and am hoping to try a bit of fishing around mornington this Sunday.
I'd appreciate any advice from the more experienced boaties in the forum, any advice they could give, so I don't upset anyone. I have been down to the mornington pier a couple of times, and watched other boaties launching and retrieving their boats, and asked about any pointers they could give me which has been most helpful.
I' m hoping to catch my first snapper, and maybe even some calmari this week-end.
Good Luck every body in your future fishing adventures and maybe I'll see you out in the bay sometime.
Tight lines everybody
Enjoy
Spike

Welcome i'm a newbie as well :P So you want some tips well got a fish finder?? That will help and is well worth getting one! Alright so Mornington aye?? Well there are two spots i go which is deep and great on a boat! So go all the way out North West and that is always my hot spot for some reason its where my fish finder goes nuts! Also just fish near charter boats they will know what they are doing. If its really bad in the Mornington area go down to mount Martha which is just south from Mornington. I hope this helps and good luck.

Welcome.
First thing i would suggest is to get some practice launching and retrieving at the ramp. uts a Bit tricky for first timers.
As for fishing wise. I would try fishies beach which is just around the corner from mornington pier. Both calamari and juvenile snapper should be available now
