Hello from Newport
Hi all,
Just wanted in to introduce myself on the forum. Having been quite big into my course fishing when I was a child and lived in Wales, UK. Having moved here back in 2013 I have been on a couple of charters and have caught the bug again.
I stumbled across this forum when researching what equipment to buy and it has already been a wealth of knowledge for me as I visited Hooked on Bait and Tackle in Hoppers Crossing after reading on here great reviews of their service. I can but reiterate these positive feedback as I was made to fellow very welcomed as a novice to saltwater fishing and was not over sold any equipment.
I'm looking to get into my fishing and learn how to target the different species around the bay. I'm keen to get myself onto a boat if anyone has a spare spot. I quite frequently see boats going out of Newport so please feel free to contact me if you want some company and share the cost. I work out towards Geelong so not confined to only going utility of Newport.

Re: Hello from Newport
Hi and welcome close to some good fishing newport. Saltwater fishing is a bit more agricultural than the finesse of coarse fishing but the rewards are better the humble flathead the best tasting fish in the bay

Welcome to the forum! I used to fish the 'warmies/hotties' in newport as a kid and the memories will live with me forever! Look forward to reading your contributions!

G'day and welcome Nath, cheers davo
It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

Re: Hello from Newport
Thanks all,
I'm really looking forward to getting some hours under my belt now the days are lighter. I'm keen to give all species a go to see what I prefer.
I've picked myself up a couple of rods too,
- Shimano Aquatip 702 4-8kg and Penn 560L slammer for some of the obligatory snapper fishing
- Shimano Catana 702 2-4kg with Shimano sedona 2500
Thanks again for the welcome
