Scan for Malware

Post by hornet » Tue Jul 12, 2016 4:21 pm

For anyone who opened the link in a post today regarding a question about scanners I recommend you scan your PC's it did contain a Trojan.
It was Malware and not a virus never the less get rid of it. I can definitely confirm it was Malware.

General best practices:
1. Don't click on links which look too good to be true or you are curious about
2. Look for broken, bad english or small nuances in the way the message has been sent
3. Never browse the internet with admin privileges stops infection from drive by's like ad servers which have been compromised
4. Ensure your AV, firewall and operating systems are constantly updated
5. Make sure you have backed up all the files which are important to you because if you get hit by cryptolocker or another variant of ransomeware it will encrypt your local, cloud and other network file shares
6. Be sure you download executables from a trusted source.

Too many people / crime gangs wanted to make a buck out of all of this. So stay safe out on the internet.
