Exciting changes at Fishing Victoria - Premium Membership
Hey all
I just wanted to drop you all a line to let you know about some changes that are happening on the forum.
Before I go into some of the changes – I would like to share the fishing Victoria forum history with those that are new. Over 4 years ago – many of us on this forum were members of the old “Fishing Vic” forum… That is before it shut down due to the operating costs of the forum.
That was the main reason this forum was established. Running this forum has not been for profit – because there is none! – It is purely a place where fishos can share a story or two. It was established in my spare time and its operation is something thanks to the awesome mods and you guys.
I am passionate about fishing and this forum. It is my goal to make it even bigger and better than ever. However, we have reached a point in our cyber existence where I can no longer do this as a hobby. We started off with a few hundred members in 2011 and it has now grown to over 12,000 members. We have had over 10 Million page views and currently average between 8,000-10,000 page views per day!
The forum has really spawned a life of its own and I’m sure you all appreciate that as the forum has grown so too have the associated operational costs. The more popular we get the more pressure on our existence!
In the past, fishing Victoria has had a number of sponsors to contribute to the operational costs. Also in recent times we have introduced banner advertising, the ability for you to donate and a VIP section.
In order to ensure that the fishing Victoria forum continues to operate and grow, I will be introducing the following opportunities:
• Premium membership (click here for the benefits of Premium Membership: page/premium-membership). Membership is voluntary and less than $1 a month! Existing VIPs will transfer over to Premium Members.
• More competitions and regular raffles with awesome prizes!
• New sponsors.
The banner advertising will remain as it helps cover some of the forum costs. Please remember we have no control over the types of advertising that appears on your page. The Google ‘big brother’ runs its own algorithm based on your recent searches. But if the ads bother you one of the advantages of the new Premium Membership is that it you see less ads!
Given the forum is only possible due to you – I plan on running some regular polls to get your feedback on the sorts of prizes you would like to see in competitions and other thoughts you may have.
I'm sure you'll realise over the next few months that nothing will change here for you as registered members and it will be the same site as it always has been.
Cheers and happy fishing!
Jon

Re: Exciting changes at Fishing Victoria - Premium Membership
To be honest I'd be happy to pay twenty bucks a year.
Because of the forum and the people on it I have increased my knowledge 10 fold
My fishing general knowledge is increasing everytime I log on.
. Different locations different members and different techniques
I have now got access to very experienced fishos who I have found very open to sharing knowledge.
.through these people's experience In the areas I have increased my catch rates, we get much better use of the boat and know we are visiting new locations.
. I am learning about buying new equipment( the right stuff for the application) and new places to buy the equipment. I am about to purchase some jigs and I will save around $100 on 10 jigs.
To me the value of this site and the people on it are fantastic.
This just my opinion from my experience. $20 $40 $50 the membership is well worth
