Have your say on the Brighton Pier draft concept plan
Parks Victoria is providing an opportunity to give feedback on the Middle Brighton Pier draft concept plan.
Regular monitoring has identified that a middle section of the Pier, built in 1938, requires replacement. It is in poor condition which impacts on maintenance of the Breakwater, the pedestrian path and boats moored in the harbour.
A draft concept plan has been developed which aims to replace the deteriorated section of Pier and Breakwater to reduce wave pressure, and improve access to the outer section of the Breakwater for both pedestrians and maintenance works.
Between Tuesday 28th March and Friday 21 April 2017, Parks Victoria is seeking feedback on key areas of the draft concept plan. You can review the draft plan and provide feedback through a survey on the project website: http://www.parks.vic.gov.au/middlebrightonpier.
*Please note, Parks Victoria will not be able to monitor this post. If you would like to get in touch, please do so via the project website.
With thanks,
Parks Victoria

It would be great if this part of the pier could be replaced during winter, before peak land based Snapper season in late August, early September.

Whatever the final plan just make sure that the clowns who designed Mornington don't have any part of it.

If it's anything to do with a council it will cost too much be carried out at the Most inconsiderate time and be completely wrong for it's intended application. Yep, the current railing is replaced by a low concrete wall topped with a hand rail. I can't see any mention of the height of it though I'm guessing it would be around 1-1.2m overall.
Are the "bus stop" type shelters on this section? I think at least one of them is, would be a shame if they go.
