Gunnamatta 10/02/17

Went down to Gunna yesterday for a quick spin session (actually two quick sessions)

Glorious day. The beach was spectacular. Reckon it has to be one of the prettiest beaches in the state especially when you walk down to the rocks and away from the crowds at the steps.

Got there at about 11am at the top of the tide. Tried just about every lure in my kit but saw no fish. Bumped into a baito though who had caught some good sized salmon and great looking mullet on the rising tide. Will have to time my next trip a bit better.

A word of caution though. Didn't take any insect repellent. Rookie mistake.

The Horseflies on the beach were insane! Swarms of the dirty ba$@ards and jeez do they sting when they bite. Leg covered in the most irritating bites, far worse than mozzies (must be allergic). Drove me from the beach after about half and our to go get some aeroguard. But by then the damage had been done.

If anyone has a remedy to stop this unbearable itching...let me know please! Driving me mad!

I got annihilated by 80 or so March fly bites in Welshpool the other day. Next time I'll be wearing long pants and shoes.

Got home and took an antihistamine. Put on some cortisone cream and followed it up an hour later with some sting goes. Haven't itched since.

Tea Tree essential oil works for me on mozzie bites, haven't tried it on horsefly bites.
Cheers,

Had a drone lifting out baits for one rod, the other blokes were sort of fishing.

Those dam flies have a ruined enough days for me down there in the past, the insect repellent is the first thing I pack now for there.
