Truemans Rd is the place to go, keep going until you get to the big carpark with the toilet block. As with any surf beach your best bet is to find a gutter or a rip to fish in, I don't fish there enough to give any decent advice on where to find those though.

Go light, 1 rod, 1 backpack, some 40 or 60g metal lures..preferably 40g. Walk full length of beach casting from steps to rocks and back and back again...great excercise and you cover more ground..this week end got North winds from behind you to cast out further..good luck..

Dumb question - if you catch a fish where do you put it - presumably not in the back-pack?

Spike it with a screwdriver and chuck it behind you up the beach. Then when you have time run a rope through its gills and just drag it along behind you as you walk.
