how far can you cast with a 9' rod and a 40g slug

What strength braid is everyone using?
I've got 20lb power pro on, but i'm thinking of moving down to a 10lb sunline, try and get some more distance into my casts.

You'll notice a massive difference. I'm using 10lb fins, had 15 or 16 on, and found a big improvement going down to 10. And the ten will handle any salmon in this part of the world, as we did south oz and the bigger fish with no issues.Gonna go the tasline next though, looks like good 5hit..

What are you spinning with Ducky?

A mate builds rods. Had him knock me up a salmon stick on a MHX SU1085-2 blank. 9 foot. 3/4-2 1/2 oz cast. 10-20lb line.

It's paired with the classic spinning reel. Stradic ci4+ 4000 with toray seabass powergame pe1.0. Makes for a very light setup. Haven't hooked a big unit yet so we'll have to see if it actually does hold up to its 20lb rating. Only a matter of time.
