nice gummy from the beach

Post by nickb123 » Wed Nov 18, 2015 8:28 am

Fished the 90 mile on Monday night high tide was around 1am on tuesday morning, went over about 5 trying to get some fresh salmon for bait. Lost a nice one in the wash and that was it, so it was back to using the cryovaced mullet and salmon and squid i had from previous bait collecting trips. Was relatively quiet a few bait stealing crabs and some small pickers hitting every now and then, about 10 it started to fire some small leopard sharks and a big ray within 30 minutes. The bait was barely hitting the water and i was getting plenty of bites, back to quiet for about 10 minutes so i decided to check a message on my phone. Then my mate yelled out your rod quick! i looked up to see it buckled over as i ran i tripped over my own feet dropping my phone in the sand as i got up out comes the rod and rod holder getting dragged towards the water i grabbed it and felt this wasn't a small fish plenty of head shakes and a few great runs i finally got it in a nice 4 and a half 4ft gummy. After that it was more leopard sharks small schoolies and port jacksons stayed until 2 and decided to call it a night after we didn't get another gummy it was a great night on the surf
