Re: Redfish in refrigerator
Brett, the possibilities now have multiplied somewhat
I have never heard of Red Mullet/Whispered Goat Fish ever been called "Redfish" (but then I'm a South Ozzy) so taking the Victorian judgement call on this one.
And they are a love'm/hate'm kind of fish.
The Europeans call them "Barrbooni" and , , , , LOVE'M more than , , , , Mamma Mia's Spaghetti Bolognese
Ditto on the 3 days BUT only if it has been kept well from capture. If it has been in your bucket with no water or ice, in the heat all day before you got it home , , , , then 3 is correct , , , , three steps to the bin
Cheers, Bugatti

Re: Redfish in refrigerator
I Think he's talking about Red Emporer or another Northen Aus species, as he is from Clifton according to his profile.

Re: Redfish in refrigerator
Elbryl where are you? You "had some from last Sunday" so I assume they were locally caught? Please tell us what they are, or describe them if you don't know.

That's the one... white firm flesh and if you caught one you knew you were in whiting territory, very common in PPB back in the past when I was a young fella, another common fish was the saw shark ( below ) in a small variety up to about the 80cm mark, you would always catch a couple each trip..

Re: Redfish in refrigerator
They used to be all through PPB, but they were in the biggest concentrations from Mornington to Portsea, Rye and Rosebud most were caught, My biggest was just under a 1 meter, your leader needed to be very thick !croe04 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2019 3:43 pmwow..
