Funny thing is Tex, it's not a weight thing, I'm built like a race horse !
Think it must be an age thing.
Thinking seriously, while I'm at it, installing a deep fryer on my bait board.
Now how fresh would that be, adding squid to the "pre prepared chips"
:-D

Grouse idea Col, people have made money out of more ridiculous ideas than that

I had an airfryer but found the chips did not come out as good as I wanted. Sold it got a heavy duty deep fryer instead and can’t be happier

Best chips I've ever eaten....(Heston Blumenthal's Triple Cooked Chips)

Place the cut chips into a bowl under running water for five minutes to wash the starch off.

Place cold tap water in a large saucepan and add the potatoes. Place the pan over a medium heat and simmer until the chips are almost falling apart (approximately 20– to 30 minutes, depending on the potato).

Carefully remove the cooked chips and place them on a cooling rack to dry out. Then place in the freezer for at least one hour to remove more moisture.

Heat a deep-fat fryer or a deep pan no more than half filled with oil (to a depth of around 10 centimetres) to 130ºC.

Fry the chips in small batches until a light crust forms (approximately five minutes), remove from the oil and drain on kitchen paper.

Put the potatoes on a cooling rack and place in the freezer for at least one hour. (At this stage, if you don’t want to cook and serve immediately, the chips can be kept in the fridge for three days.)

Heat the oil in the deep-fat fryer or deep pan to 180ºC and fry the chips until golden (approximately seven minutes).Drain and sprinkle with sea salt.

English triple cooked chips is the best I have had by far. Get them in a good english pub and they will blow you away.

I bought an Air fryer its crap unless you down what you are cooking in oil and which point you are just as well off using the deep fryer.

I will admit I was conned by marketing bull, it is nothing more than a bulky paper weight.
