Do you use all of it ????

Post by Texas » Tue Jan 02, 2018 1:18 pm

My mate from Mauritius used to say "you Aussies waste so much food".
He'd eat all of a prawn or crayfish, me only the tail
His mum got me into squid, octopus & abalone
We would keep some roe from bream & fry it in butter (very rich & tasty).
We cooked bream & ludrick on hot coals (no preparation)
(Scales protect the flesh. You either then, pull the head off, guts come out with it or peel back skin & eat)
Snapper head's went in for soup.

Cheers Gra

This is true.
Looking at all the discarded snapper frames and heads at the ramps I can help but remember how we used to add them to soup in my childhood. Made fantastic meals out of them.

Snapper heads a must for soup. They have so much meat on them no point wasting it.

Definitely no waste there.
I normally just kake fillets off and throw the rest to the birdsm
Now that i think of it, its a lot of waste but if i tale it home it just sits in the freezer and then thrownnout anyways.
I have trouble going through the fillets as it is now.
I give most of the fillets i catch away anyways
