to save you the effort dont waste your time -- I got a nice blue throat and was told they were good eating , so I tried it

any more I catch can go straight back

You should try them again, better than salmon.

Estuary Perch are sensational. I usually cook up one or two when in Marlo - they are just as common as bream, but few people fish for them specifically, so there is a perception out there that they are rare. Luderick come up well as a table fish when kept on ice after catching, too.

fish i eat: Flathead, KGW, Gummy shark (flake), snapper, calamari, tuna, pink salmon (from alaska)

Fish i catch but don't eat: Bream,Trout, redfin (from local lakes which i dont trust water quality) would give them a go out of cleaner waters but all the bones in the trout put me off...yet to try redfin though, and i hear its great to eat... but i am mostly C&R in freshwater.
And carp......
