Western Ports slow start

Post by Kimtown » Fri Nov 10, 2017 6:51 am

This time last year WPB was firing, from memory it had the most action early out of the major bays, way before Port Albert and Welshpool and even more than PPB. So far, from about 5-6 trips in the last month and a bit (I realize it only usually starts heating up the last week or 2) I've only managed 2 snapper, and zero pinkies... where as last time I would have managed at least 2-3 each trip...

anyone got any theories why WPB is so slow this year?

The last trip which was last weekend was the first time I hit the jackpot. 2 snapper up to 4.5kg. 24 pinkies up to 2 kg.
Water temp was 16 and not much garbage as bycatch. Couple of small couta which we got the 2 big 1s on.
My 4th trip of the season. Stayed away from all the other boats and it made a difference. Hoping it happens again tonight

The weather was better last year, however it hasn't been slow by any stretch. The fish have been localised in areas so if you aren't in the right spot you got nothing. Started to spread out the last week or so now

That's a really solid day mate. Sounds like December type of fishing to be honest!
