Facebook Post wrote:WESTERN ENTRANCE MARLIN James just phoned to tell me while trolling around a school of tuna (60m) in the mouth of the Western Entrance, he noticed a big black shadow behind his Richter UV Blue Splash. Within seconds, he hooked but lost a Black Marlin est 40-60kg. The fish jumped 3 times before spitting the lure and James is still currently working the area in an attempt to re-raise the fish.......This is epic and I could believe the excitement in his voice.......Hopefully he can re-connect with the fish this arvo...that will be a first for Melbourne....

How? The netting ban is for ppb, not bass strait and the waters are as far and away different as you can get for connected systems. There's been ample amount of bait like slimeys, yakkas, pilchards and anchovies and whitebait in the strait each year for over a decade that I've fished out wide consistently so it's not surprising when things line up, a fish or 2 take a detour following the baitMattblack wrote:wonder if this has anything to do with phasing out of commercial netting?

The ecosystem is like a big chain....break one link and the whole system suffers. Just wondering if the health of PPB is spreading out further?cobby wrote:How? It's got more to do with general environmental awareness than fishing, both rec and commercial
