Stony Point - Whiting / Gummies / When to fish

Post by yepi'mon » Fri Jan 20, 2017 6:45 pm

Hi Guys

This Sunday morning we are taking out a few friends for some whiting fish with an original plan to launch at Warneet.

I am now thinking that Stony Point might be a better area as we probably have more potential of catching a gummy as well?? Keep in mind I have only fished Westernport twice so my knowledge is limited.

I've made this decision based on satellite images and charts so would I be correct in saying that we should find whiting along the stony point banks (right and left of ramp), opposite SP along French Island and at the base of middle spit?

I am then thinking some of the area between buoy 17 and 18 would be alright for gummies?

The next question would be if we launch at 5 and high tide is around 8.15am.... when is slack tide going to be so that I can plan for the deeper water fishing at this point....

I know there is a few questions there... but that's whats running through my mind as I try to work out how to maximise the trip!!

Any help is much appreciated, thanks in advance!
