Post by chris srsc » Sun Sep 11, 2016 8:06 pm

I too got out for the day.. lauched tooradin around 830am...home 530pm
There where heaps of boats out...
wind against tide...not much fun

Wind picked up before the change in tide...which seemed to see alot of boats go home

I waited it out as i knew once tide changed boat would face the right way...lol

Caught two orange fish with huge eyes and tall spiked fins put it back as i didn't know what it was.

One 37cm pinkie
One xxl banjo.. i fried the tail in some seasoned flour... not that bad...kids liked it..i didn't share pinkie...lol

I got spiked by a gurnard a few years back the spines have poison in then I emptied my thermos of hot coffee over my hand to get rid of the pain

nice, looks like a bit of a washing machine out there
Those gurnard taste pretty good but you need to be careful to avoid getting spiked, I snap all the spines off with a pair of pliers before they go in the bag. Just make sure you bleed them

Yep gurnard. They are surprisingly delicious, I rate them higher than flathead on the plate. Not a huge amount of meat, mostly head. I haven't been spiked before but I hear they are agonising so I cut off all the spikes while they are still dangling from my line before I dehook them.
