Glad it worked out. Prawns work great because the gummies in that area are hunting for crabs and shrimp which smell pretty much the same.

yeh it was great fun having the rod buckle evry few mins haha. tempted to try banana prawns at lagoon pier tonight for the new moon lol think its my new fav bait any tips on keeping it on with big casts mine always falls off

Do you know if they have been catching any pinkies from lagoon lately? I haven't fished there for awhile now.

If using big hooks cut the prawn tail in half and feed the hook through a half, the bend of the hook will roughly match the shape of the prawn.
For smaller hooks cut it into smaller pieces and either do the same as you would for a big hook or just pin the bait through one end, flip it and pin it through the other.

Otherwise your casting may be the problem, slow it down and aim for a very smooth action that accelerates the sinker gradually through the cast.

Ah i was using full prawn thats probally why thanks for the tip.I was at lagoon last week Lightningx plenty of pinkies around pretty good sized flattys aswell

Yea I have seen many big flatties my mates have caught from there. Very big :-D

Not trying to rain on your parade mate but i hope you wernt fishing solo. You are only allowed 3 pinkies in excess of 40 cm...

There is no law in catching more than 3 snapper over 40cm only keeping more than 3 is illegal.
