Fishing Merricks tomorrow night
Myself my best mate and my old lady are heading to merricks tomorrow night to try and get some gummy maybe even a couple of salmon if it allows and hopefully if we're lucky a 7 gill :super: , going to be pulling an all nighter, going to try a bit of fresh squid, always buy my bait from the Springvale fish market it's dirt cheap and better quality than the frozen stuff from the local servo, can't wait!!

Probably the biggest waste of time ever, spent well on $200 to have the gear for this place and lost a shitload of sinkers and hooks, was using 40 pound line on a 10 foot rod, had 80 pound leader then a 6.0 suicide hook and a 5 ounce star sinker but got nothing but tangles, got onto one once and the line got tangled with my old ladies so have packed it in and going to the good old trusty local Warmeet, even when it bad there it's good maybe another day I will give merricks a crack but until then I'm definitely going to stick with what I know

Fishing is about trying new things mate. It didn't come together for you this time but you never know when it might pan out for you.
At least you had some time out there with family enjoying each others company.
Good on you for getting out there!!

That's gummy fishing for you. I've lost a lot of tackle for not a lot of reward fishing along there.
Maybe give Tenby Point a go, the bottom is mostly mud so you shouldn't lose as much gear to the snags.

What area did you fish?
I haven't been there for a while, but have never lost a rig to snags there.

When we got down to the beach we went left, I knew there was a reef there but that's closer to the rocks, just major seaweed beds that we're killing us.
