hiring a boat - tips for areas

Post by Clintos » Wed Dec 23, 2015 10:36 am

Hi guys,

Not looking for your secret spots but just some help with a general area to head out too. We have hired a couple of slow boats from Yaringa for next Tuesday and looking to make sure I don't bring the group back without any bites.

any help appreciated, thanks all.

Clint.

Best to talk to johny who should be the guy you are hiring from. He would have the most information on whats being caught around.

I always for for squid first thing as i head out the channel. Nothing beats fresh bait. Then head out to deeper water and wait for whatever is around. As you can see, there are a few KGW out and about.

I wont comment on the tides, but the beauty of WPB, you kinda never know what you're gonna get. I've never come home without a mixed bag.

Some of my PBs have come off those "slow boats"...

While you're there say hello to Johnny for me!

Once you exit the main channel, to your immediate right you can get KG Whiting/flathead/squid. Look for the weed beds amongst the sand patches in around 2-6m. If you go out further to the main channel you'll be in for anything really. Ive caught some good whiting in 14m of water along with Gummies and pinkies ect.

Just make sure you stop by coles/woolies and pick up some banana prawns for bait.

If you head out of the channel and go right into the shallows 3 to 6 m there are lots of leather jackets if you burley up. Good fun with the constant bites.
