Reputation system (Rep)
Would be good to have a rep system on here. Gives the people on here giving advice, tips n whatnot can gain recognition that they deserve. Also, it gives motive to others to do the same! Newbies would feel better if they knew they were following solid advice from a highly rep'd user too.
An example for those who are unfamiliar with a rep system:
All users can rep another user. User posts an answer asked by another, gives solid, well thought out, and known to work tips or advice. Other users can then rep that particular post to give the user "rep" and is noted on that particular post. Rep is then shown under the avatar, along with post count, etc. All users can rep once per day. Higher ranked user's repping power is worth more than a regular users. (?)
Alot of other un-fishing related forums I use, use the rep system and it works a treat. Whats your opinion? And Is it even possible on this site's format?
Thanks for reading.

Can turn to **** real quick if people decide to use it for the wrong reasons. From what I've seen if someone puts forward some bad advice it gets explained why it is bad pretty quickly

Re: Reputation system (Rep)
People that help others learning to fish or give tips to long term fishers do it because they have a genuine love of their sport.
I don't think a reward system would mean much to them or make any difference to the way they use this forum.
I know I wouldn't change the way I use FV, if I have useful info then I will post it, I get enough info on here to give some back when I can.
Genuine fishermen will always help other fishermen..

You could PM fishingvic to see what he thinks. I think alot of it will depend on what members think as well as the doability in the forum software.

Re: Reputation system (Rep)
Too much of fishing is subjective. There are too many folks willing to offer opinions on something they've never done or have very little experience in and present it as absolute fact.

Re: Reputation system (Rep)
Alot of the forum members give good advice anyways, wouldn't need a rep system, because then it'll only just rely on a few to provide answers. The more input there is with to fishing advice, the broader the knowledge there is.

Re: Reputation system (Rep)
I would prefer to see a like/thanks button under each post - it's a fairly straightforward phpBB option - the woodwork forum I'm on has it and it is frequently used, whereas the reputation system they have is almost never touched these days.
