Webdock Port Melbourne pinkies

Post by Kenle » Mon Mar 26, 2018 7:56 pm

Spent 4 hrs at webdock in the chilling cold last night, lost a few realy realy big runs biting off 60 lb fluro lead. Wish i knew what they were, plenty head shakes and big pulls. Owell i still managed few pinkies ranging from 33cm - 42cm and a lurking flatty that went 41cm. Not one undersized fish was pulled out, only pulled the pin cos i couldnt feel my fingers and had to leave them biting.
All fish caught on paternoster rig with half pillies, surf outfit with 20 lb braid link with 20 meters of 30lb mono. Size 3/0 gama circles. Goodluck all :water:

Thanks guys, wish i had gloves or something. Always feels unsettled to leave them hot biting, gotta do a revisit soon. Was few others out there looking real busy and still there when i left, no doubt theyd bag out. The rig i was using is actualy a running paternoster. Not sure how to explain it but 4oz snapper sinker attactched to 30lb leader bout 50cm in length with a swivel to its end. That swivel then runs down my main 30lb line and a swivel is attached to the end of main line which stops running sinker. 60lb fluro leader of about 40cm with a 3/0 circle hook attached to main line swivel. Thats my rig if it made any sense sorry, its pretty effective and has caught some good snapper upwards of 6kg. Im sure others here can share much better rig ideas

Sounds like a classic western port rig to me

Well done mate. Big hits, chomping 60, gotta be sharkies. Sounded like a ton of fun.
