where can I buy tube worms in Melbourne area?

Post by Fish-cador » Fri Mar 22, 2013 12:40 pm

Help! :help: :help:

My missus is pushing me to catch bream. I need the best bait possible to increase my chances. The tackle shop in Newport has no tube worms. I have bad back and can no longer pump tubies. Any idea where I can buy some? Any forum members out there who has "extra" supply I can buy?

Aquabait in New Castle, NSW may have some but I dont need $250 worth of worms.

:help: :help:

Mate, if you're after tubies, i'll pump them for ya.

Orrrr you could always head down lakes entrance way and flick lures for bream ;)

it is hard to catch bream on lures. I prefer to soak tubies and flick SP while waiting for a bite.

FC you don't want to use bass yabbies

One reason I like spinning for salmon is I want it "rough". LOL

For bream, I prefer bait.

Raul, though bass yabbies are good, fish can take it easily. Sometimes, bites barely register and bait's gone. With tubies, hook up rate is much higher. Also, if I buy yabbies, $40 worth does not last if there are pickers around. With tubies, when fish are around and biting, I can get my bag using only 3-4 worms.

Bass yabbies are a complete rip off! Isn't it something like 10 for $6 at tackle world?

I doubt anyone will have worms around here, as they mostly get them from up north (Newcastle ets..) and with the recent floods up there, noone's getting any.
Spoke to Newport shop the other day and they said they get theirs from N/castle as well.
I bought a pack of dehydrated ones from BIG W the other day just to try, and they're complete, useless rubbish. Wouldn't even soak up any water after 30 min os soaking.

I also wanted to try pump my own, but have never done it. Does it require any skill, or is it just push hard down and pump hard type thing?
The St Kilda beach spot that someone here suggested to me looks like a good spot to try.
Gummyslayer: where do you pump yours from?
Cheers

altona has lots of tubies and yabbies but the problem is, you can only pump during low tide and on northerlies. I will pay a few gold coins instead of wasting my time waiting for low tide, then break my back. It is easy to pump yabbies but I am not after yabbies.

Cuda, the tackle store in Newport gets their tube worms from http://www.aquabait.com.au" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; in new castle.
