Warneet - Bait enroute - Suggestions?

Post by StarrangerAU » Sat Aug 10, 2019 8:19 pm

Folks,
I've been caught short of bait :o_0: for an early start (sun-up) at Warneet tomorrow and I'm looking for suggestions on which servos in the area/ on the way stock bait.

Was intending on travelling from Melbourne city via fwy then South Gippsland Hwy.

Ta,
Star

What time are you going? Warneet general store sell bait, no doubt a servo in cranny sells bait otherwise detour slightly as the APCO on Hall rd/Dandy Hastings rd definently does. Can then keep going straight and get to Warneet via Pearcedale or cut back in to Cranny and go from there

Thks Cobby,
Was thinking to be on the water shortly after 5am...Not being local to Cranbourne ( or familiar with its surrounds) wasn't sure if any servos there carried bait. Is the APCO open 24 hour?

Hey StarrangerAU

If you are planning to head down the South Gippy Hwy then there's a 7-Eleven in the triangular intersection of South Gippy Hwy & Clyde-Five Way Road .. about a few kms past Cranbourne when the speed limit is reduced to 80km .. Have got baits from them before and are of good quality as they do have a high turnover.

And most importantly - they do open 24-7 :)

Have a good one on the water and stay safe !!

Both the apco and 7-11 mentioned are opened 24hrs and have bait and limited fishing supplies..
If all else fails, take some chicken fillets from the freezer or go to woolies/Coles open till midnight.
Cheers

Thanks for all your recommendations, I departed around 4.30am and returned around noon...and promptly fell asleep.

As for the fishing. Despite the low wind, I could have sworn it the light rain turned to sleet. It was around about that moment where I thought to myself 'This is mad', promptly packed up and thought...maybe Mornington is a bit better...which it was weather wise. Fish-wise pretty much the same.. nothing, zip, zero doughtnuts.

It was pretty much a fore-gone conclusion really.
