Kingie report - Western Entrance

Post by PhilN » Tue Jan 30, 2018 7:18 pm

I’m surprised by the lack of Kingie reports - it’s been the best I have ever seen. Seen a couple come through lately so thought I would add a report.
On the weekend was out near Flinders Bank at first light for a tuna look see but got bored after an hour so switched to Kingies. Checked out nearby Kingies locations - marked them but couldn’t get them to bite. Water was a beautiful deep blue at each site.
At the last site - persisted - and it paid off
First on a popper (110cm to tail end)
Second on a Xrap20 (100cm to tail end)
The second was in dirty water by that time and 30 min after we had stopped sounding them. Lesson learnt - work it work it work it. They are there. (known hot spots)
Also did some aerial jumps which I haven’t seen before.
Variety of methods used ( trolling xraps, poppers, squid strips, stick baits, jogging, squid heads) but on the day Xraps and poppers worked.

Thanks for the report.... as someone with NFI, I really appreciate you noting what worked and what didn't.
