My first Victorian Kingies!!!

I did it! My first ever Victorian kingy. To me this is something special as I have been chasing this fish in Victoria for quite a while. This weekend I was quite successful.
It started of with a gorgeous day and no wind. We headed offshore about 15km out in search of some gummies. Drifting of 22m in the middle of no where and I was hooked in no time to this bad boy..
he twisted every line I had out including my Burley bucket. I was able to bring him up to the boat and what a mess it was.. leaders, hooks, sinkers everywhere! I untangled him and the Burley bucket slipped from my foot and tumbled down to the ocean floor. I was saddened but that quickly faded as realized I just landed a nice 6kg gummy. A mere 10 minutre later I go to reel in.. and feel something really heavy. I thought ohh great a ray.. nope.. it was my Burley bucket!!!!!
Thanks to my girl the crusher for getting me offshore and back safely.
Very successful morning as I ended up with about 10 flatties 40cm plus.
I then went in and tried my luck for some squid with a new white shimano jig that i got for my birthday on Monday.. didn't take long before I caught 6 squid.. basically one after the other. I kept them live in the live bait tank and proceeded to a kingy location that people were raving about...
I didn't think I would have any luck..
I threw in the first live squid and trolled very slowly... my rod took a hit and then BAMMM it bent down and the reel was going nuts (don't you just love that sound) it wasn't long until I hooked into my first kingy. She went like a freight train.. let me tell you the adrenaline that went through me As I pulled her up... most amazing feeling ever!
Out of all the trolls back and forth I did along the special marks. I got a hit every time.. 6 squid - 4 kingies.. lost 1 , didn't hook her well and the other one reefed me.
70cm was the biggest with 63cm being the smallest..
What a day. I won't forget it in a hurry.
