Kings on the chew
I had intended to get out to Hogan island for a chracj this weekend, and had organised another boat to come out with us.
Unfortunately he had to cancel last minute, and the decision was made to play it safe and head to cliffy instead. The 85km run to hogan is not something I partularly want to do on my own.
It probably wouldn't have mattered either way, as we woke of to a stiff 15kt southerly that would have put me off the big run anyway.
We got out to cliffy on sunrise and were immediately onto the kings.
4 boats around us didn't get a fish between them despite their best efforts, but we had no issue, and we would have bagged out if we wished to keep more than a few.
They went off the boil after the tide change, and the other boats disappeared. Around 10:30 a tonne of birds appeared from nowhere and it was all action stations with kingies busting up everywhere for a solid 2 hours.
It's only after that, that I realise I don't have anywhere near enough quality stickbaits. Back to the tackle store I go I guess....
Great day out, was happy with how the boat handles the 20+ knot winds that built up during the day. An easy run in with the wind behind us and we were back at the ramp by 2pm. Talk about cruizy!
