I ran 2 8/0 gama occy circles, fixed snell rig, 60lb trace, about 1.6-1.7 long, 20lb mono mainline.
Go BIG baits. The photo of the squid, I put that whole head on, lasted about 90 seconds, bang, off she went..it was a bloody big head, the kingy just inhaled it...

Yep, they hit so hard, it's irrelevant.

Well earnt and well deserved fellas!

I'm 2 donuts from 2 jigging sessions so far. A mate had a live squid munched whilst slow trolling the rip yesterday. Missed the hooks. Only took the head. My livey was ignored. I'll be trying this float idea next time. Might change the float to one of those flasher squid style floats as I reckon the kingys are too inquisitive to ignore it.

Lovely work. Very insanely jelly.

Ducky, I had a squid flasher float on, (Doug's lol..)
Gav, 'bout 20-30 mtrs max. They were patrolling right up along the edge..
Ads...the impersonation of mermaid man was hilarious..

You could try just putting a tiny ball sinker straight to an 8/0 with a whole squid head on and run it down the current.
