whitby uk
I had a ripper 2 days stayed the night in Scarborough in yorkshire on the east coast its an early victorian holiday town.today I was in Whitby where captain cook came from walking along the harbour I found a sign 3 hour fishing trip £20 which is roughly $40 I rang and booked on.
I turned up at 1345 for a 1400 departure I was chatting with the skipper when the other anglers turned up and we set sail. 5k out the skipper starts the drift the rod supplied I think captain cook donated it the reel apparently is a Scarborough although it looked like an alvey no drag.
A paternoster rig with a bit of squid within 5 mins 2 of the young lads drinking cans started chucking then the young lady started their mates showed no compassion and videoed them, one guy recovered to fish the other slept for 2.5 hours.
A challenge was put out £1 each heaviest fish £1 each most fish, we dropped the rigs in and for 2.5 hours we pulled in mackerel and a type of whiting and some small cod with 20 mins to go I had the most fish and the heaviest when one of the young lads pulls in a ripper cod and pipped me for heaviest but I won the most 12 in total if only I had brought my gear I missed heaps, my sister was happy all fished cleaned packed in ice for the 2.5 hour drive home

If your in whitby, check out the abbey, and the whale bone arch (opposite side to the abbey). The abbey was made famous as the the landing place in Bram Stokers Dracula. I'll let you guess what the arch is famous for.

Nice cod! I'd love to catch one of those one day. Isn't Whitby where James Cook trained to be a merchant seaman and later the reason for choosing the famous "Whitby Cat" style of ship for the Endeavour?
