Cape Woolamai 20-Apr-2016

Post by mingle » Sun Apr 24, 2016 7:59 pm

Another quick trip to the Cape. Met up with Tas and travelled offshore (a bit) and also chased the squid and whiting.

Conditions (at first) not quite as nice as last week, but in the late afternoon it was perfect.

Travelled around 16km and was on the water for about 8.5 hours.

Not too many words in this report, but a few pics - as per usual...

A bit breezy and cloudy at the 9:00am launch...
Image

Despite the relatively few boats, they all congregated in one spot...
Image

The offshore swell was up a bit, probably just over 1m...
Image

It was also very hazy - I think the CFA were burning off in the hills...
Image

The clouds and haze combined to give the sun a cool-looking halo...
Image

I gave the bait-fishing a go and was getting something every drop - plenty of these barber perch around...
Image

Also a black-banded sea perch...
Image

Bagged a couple of thumper blue-throated wrasse...
Image

Tas is a KGW guru and was hauling them in as I watched enviously and hooked toadie, after toadie...
Image

There were a couple of other yakkers out and about. This one managed at least one squid...
Image

After almost 9 hours on the water it was definitely time to head back...
Image

The water glassed off completely just before sundown and the sunset was pretty special...

Nice day out Mingle. I spent the day at the HIA HOME AND reno show, it went off. Those pics are awesome and and that would have been the best day out especially as the weather got better. You can't beat those days, great weather, great fishing, great being on the water with a mate fishing but to have a day like that is what its all about.
Thanks for sharing
