Ventnor 27/2
I took a mate to spot I'd been wanting to try out for a while now, allegedly decent for whiting, gummies and pike. I had prawn out on the light rod, salmon (and later, a grass whiting head) on the heavy rod and I chucked a 40g slug around from time to time. Probably wasn't the ideal tide timing with high tide being about 3 hours before sunset but we had a crack anyway.
Perfect weather for it.
I got one expression of interest on the heavy rod that might have been a gummy but no hookup unfortunately.
My mate had a great time catching rubbish fish, including this little skate, he'd mainly done freshwater fishing and hadn't caught much in the salt before
I've never seen anyone so excited at skulldragging a wrasse
We stayed until just after sunset but by then the tide was getting very low so we pulled the pin. The final tally was a couple of wrasse each, a grass whiting each and my mate's skate from 5 or 6 hours on the beach. Normally I'd say it was a pretty crap return but since getting the kayak I don't care so much about not catching fish landbased anymore, it's more about hanging out and talking **** for a few hours.

Yeah, that was the problem. Neither of us wanted to be the designated passenger if it meant the other couldn't drink.
