I bet the shop never declared the income from the illegally sourced fish.

Mind you, from what I have seen over the years on the Bellarine Peninsula, would make the Fisheries seem irrelevant.
I have seen and know first hand how many fish & chip shops buy directly from 'supposed' recreational fisherman.

Was also at Lorne recently - the place should have a full time fisheries officer on duty, or 2 for that fact. (16 hour days )
So why not report them???

The number of times I've seen fishos try and trade recreationally caught fish on social media astounds me, not realising that the legal definition of sale in this context also includes old school trading and bartering.

Out of interest are fish and chip shops (or any restaurant for that matter) breaking the law if you get them to cook fish you caught for you?

Brown Trout: 37cm
Flathead: 51cm; Squid: 36cm; Australian Salmon: 51cm; Snapper 46cm; Silver Trevally 23cm; KGW: 45cm

IF its billed as a sale , I can see it being a problem. Interesting question though.
There is always more to learn , fish to catch , places to see and friends to make.
