My son targets rays to eat. Catches probably 6 or 8 per year. So he has just been excluded from fishing on jetties around Melbourne.
On jetties all over victoria.

On 3aw ? this morning they released the news, the way it was reported this is happening all over the bay with hundreds mutilated and dumped.
The media blows it out of all proportions and clearly replaces words quoted, apparently 30,000 voted on this, when was this poll ?
Why weren't we the people that pay the licence informed ? this stinks of a deal done between yuppies and the minister to secure votes for next election.
So if some lunatic burns down a pier are we all banned from all piers ? what's next ? I cringe just thinking about it.
People paid to look after the fisho's best interest have clearly been steered in another direction not in our favour.
This anti-fishing lobby has been working behind the scenes for years slowly eroding our rights.
It's been going on for years as long as I can remember and that's a long time.
We need a minister that fishes to truly understand our sport.
He who has the most fishing rods WINS ! :ts:

I'd rather a ray than a Salmon/Trevally etc. I'd go as far as saying they're better than Snapper. However a giant pain in the arse to clean and a rather large portion of leftover carcass compared to what you get off them

They are actually quite tasty. But only the flaps are mainly used for consumption (hence why im.guessing so many were found without the flaps/wings)

Have never seen any of these fish treated poorly when caught. However, if they become plagued in WP, I’m sure I will see it happen. The pier ruling is a slap in the face. Used to HATE scuba divers at Mornington, always cutting my line.... #sinkersaway

Far from it. Sadly the puppets are the ones who now have to put up with 75yo Con waving a knife around angrily at them after copping a ridiculous fine on the pier because his stingray or banjo can't be kept. Yet just down the road 50yo Stan is cleaning a 1.2m wide Eagle Ray he caught from the boat without a worry in the world....

Puppets run by absolute oxygen thieving fuckwits

Edit: Glad I never fully committed with a job application at fisheries
