Re: Snobs Creek hatchery turns 70 – free public event
I went along to Snobs Creek this morning; they had quite a good crowd there.
Salmon eggs just fertilised Hatchlings Brown trout broodstock, all down deep in contrast to the Rainbows. Rainbow broodstock damage from bird attack was common Lots of large trout in each pond Sulking Murray Cod- too many visitors Native fish breeding area Cod breeding box Eggs ready to go. Brown-Salmon-Rainbow from left to right I visited the pondage afterwards, the only thing that was interested was a spiny crayfish on dough. I put it back as I wasn't sure (until afterwards) that they were a legal take from the pondage.

Nice pics nmgar, I went then hit up the pondage after. Fished for a few hours using different powerbait for only 1 touch. People I spoke to seemed to be having the same luck. There was a huge amount of water changeover while I was there. In the spot I was at, about 2 meters of bank got exposed with the drop, then on the fill it came back higher than where it was when I started

I was there from about noon to 2p.m. and the pondage was full all the time I was there. I was by the oval and there was quite a flow going but input was equal to output.
I put one rod out trying worms, powerbait and dough, the dough was the only thing that was touched and no rod movement so I suspect that crays were the culprit. I should have put a drop net in the car.
I also tried a brown trout pattern Tassie devil which gave me nothing.
Cheers,
