Definitely not knocking the idea and implementation it's when it waa used for personal monetary gain that it became a problem.

When one of the directors of an organisation lies on television to the public about himself and another bloke getting the privilege to fish the pondage early the integrity of fisheries Victoria, futurefish foundation, talking fishing, ifish and Tackleworld must be questioned.

Just to clear up one little thing, tackleworld is a buying group, so each one (except multiples like Worstling and trellys) are entirely independent. So a tackleworld in Queensland or the Latrobe valley has nothing to do with Mornington and Cranbourne. What happened is entirely on Kramer, Worstling, his 2 shops and their respective shows not tackleworld itself

Regardless of the motives and the current outcomes - these guys actually gave it a crack.
And it was a success for a while with lots of positive feedback - had it continued along that path it would have been great.
I just think that anytime someone tries something to improve fishing good on them , everything won't be a success but that does not mean we should stop trying nor should we bag those that do try.

Chris, not knocking the whole idea, I'm all for giving it a crack. Its just the management process that has wained with time. Surely if you are trying a new concept you follow through with the project. It would appear that the barra have been left to their own survival when some food, removal or euthanasia options should have been on the cards when fisheries pushed them into the tail race. The commercial operators drove the project, profited from the project & the Govt invested in the project. Some of them need to stand up and complete/manage the outcome humanely.

Totally agree don't know if Poacher PW or his lying sidekick get a royalty but would discourage hurting other small businesses.

Suspect it's a question we will never get a reasonable answer to.

Lol what an embarrassment

The only embarrassment is the inward looking, parochial character of the NT News and its editors & contributors.

"“Stocking that pond was only going to cater for a tiny minority of amateur fishermen who don’t have the skills to catch barramundi anyway,” he said."

Clearly he's got no idea how diverse the skill set of Victorian fishos is.

And this: "Mr Julius said the plan was destined to fail. He said they should have concentrated on stocking the pond with.... trout."

Seriously? Trout in a 26-32 degree pond??

The dude, it would seem, has no idea of the requirements of trout, and quite possible anything south of the Tropic of Capricorn, and assumes "Mexicans" are equally ignorant of everything to the north. Moron.
