woori yallock this evening

Post by ChrisD » Sun Mar 09, 2014 8:38 pm

Well headed to Healseville for some Blackfish, but after 1/2 an hour scouting Watt's river I just couldn't find anyhwere I was confident in. Guess I am just not used to these narrow streams.
So headed back to Woori Yallock, figured I would give the Yarra there a go. Found a nice looking section just down from the bridge. Opened the worms I bought .... bugger ....all dead, got too hot in the car I guess. Oh well I was there figured they were better than nothing.
Starting getting bites nice and quick, finally hooked up to a 40cm eel, put up a reasonable fight on light tackle. Stayed till about 9pm, had plenty more bites but could not get another hook up.
Although not a black fish it was better than a donut. Black fish will have to wait for another day.

Well done! As long as something is tugging on the line the rush is still there. I fished above Warby for no fish but did pick up a small flake of gold lol

Looks like it has been bit/ or cut in half / and healed ! ??? , strange looking eel ! .
If your targeting blackfish , they are more common during dusk and dark/night time. Good old worms or scrub worms as bait on the bottom , expect a lot of eels as by catch while hunting blackfish.
You'll get the odd ones during the day, usually on the bottom of very deep pools , but they are more of a night fish.

Cheers , Rick.

Think it is just the angle of the photo, it was a normal eel. Was using worms, no dusk and into the dark. I wasn't really set up properly for night fishing, need to get myself a good lantern. The cap with lights doesn't really cut it.

Couldn't agree more. Pity I didn't get a few more hook up, but one is better then nothing.

Chris, have you tried the Woori Yallock creek at Yellingbo, cheers davo
It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

Used to be cool...

I bet you don't even use K-Mart gear now that you're targeting natives. I bet you've sold out and bought some fancy Big-W gear or something :tease:
Winners forget they're in a race. They just love to run.

Nope still using the K-mart specials .... although I do hope to up grade later in the year. Although the kamrt special have impressed me with the way they work for the price.
If it doesn't get too hot this afternoon I am going to hit TNA for an hour or so after lunch, see what the temperature does.

See still cool
