Yarra River 31/1/14 - 2/2/14

Post by Gooback1990 » Sun Feb 02, 2014 9:27 am

Long time lurker, First time poster.

Fished the yarra Friday/Saturday night and this morning for not a whole lot.

Started offf with Bread and Corn as bait but got nothing at all, Changed over to the Scrubbies and got a little bit of action.

First Fish was a 10cm Redfin, Followed by a 20cm eel.

That ended our Friday night.

Got onto another 2 eels to about 45-50cm on the other times. Running sinker and Scrubbies again.

Might need to change spots for something different.

welcome aboard, where about's on the Yarra were you? no need to be specific just suburb will do.
I have been finding it very quiet on the Yarra as well - between Wonga Park and Yarra Glen.
Hoping it gets better soon.

In Wonga Park mate. Eels are better than nothing I suppose. Had a break off this morning in the dark which was large. Big breech about 10 metres away from me, but must have gone under a log because I couldn't get it out.

They're a pain in the ass to realese but I love catching eels. I've had sessions in winter in the diamond creek where we can't chuck a bait in the water without catching an eel
Angling is the name given to fishing by people that can't fish

Had a three eels a few weeks back, between heritage golf course and Wittons reserve, heck of a walk to get there.
Nothing wrong with catching eels, the big ones can be alot of fun, and it sure beats coming home empty handed.

Yeah exactly. Agree with the hook removal though. Bloody hard. Take it all the way down.

Unless they are lip hooked, I just cut the line and throw them back. You do more harm then good trying to remove hooks that eels have swollowed right down
