Hi guys

Just wondering if anyone fishes the Yarra around the Yarra Bend area?

Any accessible spots there that fish reasonably well?

Cheers

I fished fairfield boat park today and got an eel(released). Was very quiet today considering I was there with a mate and we had 2 rods each. I fished there for cpl hrs on w'end and snagged 2 carp around 3lb and lost a monster which snapped my 10lb braid like cotton. Got a 3kg+ fish last monday which i chucked into the vegie patch.

Last time I fished alphington area was behind the "horse paddocks" last year and me and my mate came across a massive brown snake sunning itself a cpl of meters from us. :whoh: Have given it a miss since then.
When I got time,
I wet a line cos Im a junkie,
been fishin since a kid,
I like it cos it numbs me..

Sounds alright - and both these places easily accessible enough?

I haven't had a chance to head that way yet

I haven't fished that area for many years we used to go to the bottom of Yarra Bend rd and there was plenty of good accessible spots to fish we caught eels, roach, reddies and carp, but these areas may have been fenced off by now. If I remember right they used to lock the gate near the golf club about 700pm. Also there was a road running off to the right not far from the old women's prison that went to the deep rock swimming hole. Another good spot was Dights falls at Clifton Hill.

Very easy access at Fairfield boat house.
Have caught eels and carp there, but it can be quite busy on a nice day (people launching boats, feeding ducks etc)

As for the bream, I wouldn't count on it above dights falls.

Dights falls comment is pretty much spot on! Rock wall stops estuary fish from travelling up river!
