got onto a few today

Post by simon2g » Thu Sep 12, 2013 6:53 pm

Went and hit the yarra for a few hours this arvo into this evening. Went from about 2.30-6 and around 4.30 got onto a nice macca probably went around 22-25cm and looked in good health, after that got a baby redfin about no more than 10cm on some worms using a running sinker for both of those. was good to get out and catch something after not having caught anything for a while. unfortunately no pics, forgot my digital camera and my phone was dead just before i got onto them was shattered!

cheers

Nice to see you caught a couple today simon, never go fishing without the camera mate you don't want to miss getting a photo of your catch of the day plus a few scenic photos too... The camera is the first thing I pick up with the car keys, you'll remember it next time mate.
cheers

Good to hear more fish coming out of the Yarra. Haven't fished up near the golf course for about 8 months so good to here there are fish on the bite again. Well done.

was incredibly hard to handle, it's dorsal fin was insanely spikey. that was my first ever macca and didn't realize the fin was such a hazard, was deffinately very careful and barely handled it before popping it back

Haha, that seems to be the case with several of our freshwater natives...

indeed mate, cant beat that feeling of pulling in a native when you don't know what your catch or bi-catch will be!

boys does anyone have any info in regards to how wriggly your worms are when you use them as bait and that leading to more fish?

Day 1 when i bought a punnet i got onto the macca and ready and they were confident strikes, the next day i used the same worms had about 7 or so left and kept em fridged with the soil, they were alive and moving but deffinately not as vibrant i would say as day 1.. anyway, when out on the river i had atleast 6 or 7 nibbles, knocks, inspections whatever we wanna call it but not one real solid take that i could lift the rod and set the hook for.. i kept getting out of my chair seeing the line jump and then after that nothing if anything just some more nibbles and knocks, was fustrating as!!

ah well. wanna get my own worm source goin so i can save a trip to the tackle store to get some and also save some money in the long run
