It is still worth trying. Assuming it has risen due to rain the only downside may be when it drops. I'm not a fan of fishing 'dropping' rivers. As Fishsniper said, bait will be the best.

Gee I had planned to wait till the next restocking at Lilydale lake to hit it up. But it is looking like I should get the tassie devils out and head up there sometime soon.

same here chris, sounds as though the runoff's/mouths of the lake are better to fish the the actual lake itself.

is it just reddies, browns and rainbows that are caught here?

Dont quote me on this as im not frequent fisher in this location. But im sure somebody told me that before it was last restocked it had been drained to get rid of blue green algae.??????? If this is true there wouldnt be a huge amount of noxious species carp, roach, tench unless they have come back through Olinda Creek. Im sure other people can give you a more definitive answer?

Don't let winter put you off. I hooked up on another big cod last week........unfortunately it was on my itty bitty soft plastic stick with only a 10lb leader. just didn't cut the mustard.... :( But I will be back for her!!!
If only I could fish more
