goulburn near eildon

Post by coburgfiss » Mon Oct 13, 2014 10:13 pm

it was my first time exploring this area on the weekend. i didn't expect to catch anything but i was wrong

i had a number of follows and saw a couple of trout feeding near the surface before i hooked one up. it was a brown trout about 45cm and initially fought hard before giving in meekly. great fun, beautiful surroundings and i certainly got a taste for it and will be back.

I can see why you will go back! Solid fish...looks larger than 45cm's. Well done.
cheers

it's definitely a floating rapala something in rainbow trout pattern. not sure exactly which one. it was quite a shallow diver.

thanks! yeah it looked larger than 45cm in real life too but i didn't get a chance to measure it and just took a guess based on where it starts and finishes along the rod. easily my biggest trout ever. i had another big one follow me in looking very interested and a couple of little ones looking mildly curious.
