Welcome aboard....nothing wrong with the Kmart Sportfisher range, they maybe cheap but they do the job. There are a few of us here using them. I paid $20 ea for the 6ft6 rod and reel combos and have been using them for a couple of years.

Welcome to the site Ash! Don't let cheap gear put you off! Ive caught plenty of fish on k-mart gear! Just need to look after it well and it will last you awhile! Look forward to reading your contributions!

If you flick through the freshwater section a couple of the younger guys were smashing carp on that lake a few months ago.

Just landed a couple of 4ft sharks on a sportsfishing 5500 baitrunner and my uncles homemade surf rod I inherited at Tuross Heads. I bought it because i didn't want to invest a lot of money before i'd had a chance to research baitrunner reels and I was on the road at the time, it has performed beautifully for me with 10kg sportfisher mono. $30 bucks or so I think.
