Portland 8/10 am
G'day all
Woke up early sat morning about 3am and decided to pack the car and go for a fish, well my usual fish is local ppb.
But i just drove and drove and ended up in portland with high hopes thinking weather will be fantastic but not really.
Arrived 9am at lee breakwall few fisho's there but not much happening.
Set up casted in, cast was only 20 meters out as the nw winds decided to blow at 30kmh. Still didnt stop me.
Rods set then casted in the harbour side try my luck and yep within a min a 35cm gurnard. Back in the drink then followed by a few leather jackets and small flathead.
Then the snags started so moved on to few soft platics had squid following on tge retrive so i put on the squid jig to catch nothing.
I started to pack up then the couta made their way in to the harbour i still kept packing up,
Started to make my way back and stopped at moyne in port fairy, 20min caught 2 sting rays and 1 small trevellay. Winds picked up and packed up again and headed home.
No snapprr or big run this time but all in all the trip was well worth it.
Will be going again in 3 weeks.

Just like anywhere it has it’s good days and not so good days.
You never know next time you head back in a few weeks time you might land a 10kg red.
Hope you have some more luck next time mate

Damn, shame about that wind, but good that you ended up with some hookups for your troubles. I'm looking forward to returning myself in 3-4 weeks if the weather plays nicely.
Good luck on your next adventure.
