Mornington Pier Squid Report

Post by LachyBell » Mon Feb 19, 2018 11:15 am

Me and my brother went down to Mornington Pier yesterday, we tried plastics for red mullet on the pier in front of the rocks cafe but nothing was happening. He said he wanted to go squid jigging off the left side of the pier and we decided to for the remainder of time. Needless to say it was a great idea. The squid were coming up every cast, there were roughly 8 of us fishing of the left side at the time. We all caught over 5 in less than an hour. It was between the hours of 4 and 5 on preferably purple, black and orange jigs!

I’ve had success with the smaller size jigs with the squid there in the 1.8-2.5 size range.
