Post by Ajantis » Wed Oct 05, 2016 12:08 pm

Hey Guys,

QQuestion: Whats the best wind direction for fishing on PPB.
I always thought SSW was good ? What do you guys think ?

Cheers.

Depends on where you're fishing....SSW would be good off Blairgowrie or Portarlington, not so hot off St Kilda.

Moderate S or SSW is best for northern PPB if you are chasing snapper or pinkies.

This whole wind thing all depends on which part of the bay your fishing, and wether your landbased or in a boat.

landbased fisherman always prefer the wind in their face when chasing snapper, because it brings the fish in real close to feed.
so what FC said south or SSW is best for that areas when chasing snapper, not sure about other fish though
on a boat it wouldnt matter because you can go to where the fish is.

but in the same time, i used to know a guy who never went fishing if the wind was from a certain direction, i really didnt know why. but he only fished frankston areas.

Snapper and pinkies hit hard when water is rough. Snapper comes close to rocks and shore feeding on anything that got stirred up or dislodged from rocks. I assume they hit hard because they dont want to lose any food they have found.
