MMMmm, Well I was born and bred in Albany over 65 years ago, spent a lifetime fishing the coast from Albany, Esperance and beyond. I worked at the whaling station at Albany. There is not much that comes out of the Ocean that I have not seen. We used to winch the whales up with 6mtr White Pointers hanging off them. In those days we used to kill everything.
But things have changed, we have all learnt new respect.
Then I see those pictures of Salmon laying in the sun, not even bled properly. What on earth are they killed for ? they are virtually inedible at that size plus they are not looked after for eating.
Catch them for sure, keep a couple of smaller models for the table, bled and filleted immediately then put straight into an ice/salt water slurry and eaten that night they are far better than people know. But to just kill them and throw them on the beach in the sun is not a good look IMO.
They are a great sportfish, I have caught them up to 30lb.
Catch and release boys, catch and release.

And let me tell you, It is not only non speaking English, people who end their lives fishing off the rocks.
I spent a lifetime (cant do it now) catching Giant Groper from the rocks, and we only ever used handlines.
300lb sash cord. You do not need to fish the rocks in that area, just find a nice beach (dont forget you can drive onto the beach in WA) and hang on.

Cheers.........ThomasG
