People have caught them before or Marine scientists follow their migration and study them.
All i wanted to know. Thank you haha. I clearly saw that is stated they can grow to 33lb but wasn't sure how they would know this if the biggest caught was 19.
Also it's a line caught reccord. Pretty sure no longline usage and other commercial gear.
So a 33lb one could h e been caught in a net at some point.
It says all tackle? Does this mean as in all bait/lure etc or all tackle as in nets longliners etc?
PB- Snapper 55cm, Whiting 38cm, Flathead 55cm, Bream 38cm, Australian Salmon 55cm, Carp 80cm

Biggest was a 6.3kg ( no guts ) and measured at 80cm ( with no head ) so you all do the maths LOL!

they can grow to AT LEAST 15kg? that must be big!
19 pounds is what? 9kg so how do they know they get to 15kg?? :icon_lolz:
19 lb 4oz is the current IGFA record. It means the fish was caught using IGFA rated line and acknowledged by IGFA.

You can catch a bigger fish but it does not mean your catch will be on the record books. You may be able to catch a smaller fish yet it may end up in the record books. If you have further questions, please PM me instead.
