Perth surf rod advice needed

Post by Lecterfan » Sun Jan 18, 2015 6:19 pm

Gday,

due to the ridiculous price of luggage/baggage, I am headed over to WA for a few weeks soon and will only take my reels (well, I'll take a few clothes probably also). The plan is to pick up some rods in Cash Converters while I'm there and leave them over there at my rello's place.

Simple question for those who might be able to help: will Perth based (probably around Spearwood/Freo general area) Cash Converters have a decent selection of 9 -14ft rods? I'm staying in that area for a night or two and then headed South and don't want to stop at Bunbury or BCF, more than happy to use second hand sticks.

Cheers.

I have popped into Cashies in the past, thinking I might be able to pick up some bargain rods. What ive seen is overly expensive, totally rubbish rods. Over here at any rate they are wanting 60-80 bucks for rods that looked like total junk.

Better off IMO finding a K-mart or big W and picking up some home brand combos if thats what you're looking at doing.

Failing that look for some cheap telescopics you can stick in your luggage

Cheers - I was hoping for some magic bullet over there haha! I know I can get decent stuff from BCF for cheap if need be, but I'm not bad at haggling at cashies if need be. I don't have the money for combos, and I love my reels so that was my thinking there. Thanks again.

You might score something out of Cashies but some of the ranges in the tackle stores over there will be more reliable.
Maybe have a light outfit to catch fresh bait and have fun with the little stuff with a bigger bait out.
Depending on what you want to fish for there are plenty of places to try.
Mullaway are running hot along the beaches at the moment. Plenty of 20kg range fish being landed.
Try North mole/E shed area, Rockingham to Mandurah beaches and beached north of Mindarie.
Tailor will be hit and miss. Point Perron is a good place to start.
If you have access to a 4WD then I can help you with more options.
