Robe for mulloway. Spots?

Post by toygtr » Fri Apr 19, 2013 9:01 am

Hi all just new here,
Although I do a lot of fishing Victoria all over me and a mate are thinking of doing a trip over to robe, south Australia next week chasing some mulloway before it gets too cold.
Does anyone know exactly where are good spots to beach fish for them over there are?
Its going to be our first time and only have google maps to find spots. (Has never let me down before though some inside help/insight would go along way)
We are going for a good few days and really want to snag a couple big ones. Fishing day and night.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers Kelvan

Most of the beaches there will produce if you put the hours in.
I saw a small jewie in one of the channels there feeding on what looked to be crab/crayfish remains.
Also, some big bream under the boats in the marina, if you're interested.

Sweet ill have a look see around those spots. Do a bit of research first, only after gummies, bigger sharks and mulloway. Nothing else really.
Thanks everyone.

Places like Salt Creek are very good but only if there's no weed around. Species on offer are Mulloway, Sharks: School, gummy, bronze whaler, seven gill, etc., elephant sharks, flathead, Salmon and Snapper sometimes. Places like Tea-Tree Crossing, 42 Mile, etc are good starting points. Just 4WD for a while until your reach your location and look for a good clean gutter and bait up and wait.

Another place to look at is Goolwa Beach. It is basically the same as Salt Creek but the Mulloway are generally smaller but the species are basically the same. Only other difference is that it's on the other side of the Murray Mouth and a bit further to drive from VIC.

Sweet mate, yeah been looking and the coorong, 42 mile. The season is nearly gone, but we will give it a go anyway. A lot of blokes said livies was the way to go in the surf, but couldn't get out of any of them what species there use. Just going to stick with squid, mullet, salmon.

I was watching a guy haul in something huge on one of the main beaches there, but when he landed it it turned out to be a HUGE draughtboard
